Biography
Cortez is a professional football coach and educator with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in the field of Kinesiology and Sports Science from Saint Mary’s College. Currently, he is a doctoral candidate in Education in the Glady’s L. Benerd School of Education at the University of the Pacific. As a youth athlete, Cortez was part of several youth setups in Central California, Mexico, and in the San Francisco Bay Area before committing to a long-term career to sport and education. He holds coaching certifications from both the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). A multi-skilled professional, he has experience in intercollegiate athletic coaching and administration, the non-profit sector, and educational settings. As a sports consultant, he brings expertise in injury prevention, athletic performance enhancement, and program design.
